terroir of Les Challeys
Steep, sun-drenched terraces have been carved into outcrops of metamorphic rock and swept by valley winds that preserve the purity of the fruit. This demanding terroir, shaped both by human hands and by the force of the elements, gives rise to wines that are racy, straight, and full of finesse, faithful reflections of this emblematic appellation of the Northern Rhône Valley.

Rainfall between April and June was significantly higher than the average of the past ten years. This led to high disease pressure from fungal pathogens, resulting in substantial losses across a large part of the vineyard. Fortunately, the summer conditions that followed (July–August) helped preserve the grapes in good sanitary condition through to harvest.
Harvesting was therefore carried out according to a relatively late and particularly extended schedule, from September 10 to 29. Following rigorous sorting, yields settled at around 20 hl/ha.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand at perfect maturity to preserve the full richness and integrity of the fruit. After complete destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, gently revealing the purest expression of Syrah.
Once draining off and pressing are complete, malolactic fermentation occurs in tank, bringing roundness and balance. Depending on the nature of the vintage, a portion of the cuvée is then aged in barrels to refine the structure and enhance aromatics.
