The Philosophy

IN THE CRADLE OF SYRAH, THE ART OF SINGLE-VARIETAL WINE

Syrah is the result of a natural cross between two local grape varieties that never spread beyond their native region: Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche. Its birthplace lies in the northern Rhône Valley, precisely where local tradition has always claimed it originated. Located north of the 45th parallel, the region is naturally suited to the art of single-varietal winemaking, allowing for an authentic expression of terroir. Having found its ideal climatic boundary here, Syrah has developed a distinctive personality that the House strives to reveal year after year.

Thanks to its privileged access to the great appellations of the Northern Rhône, the House crafts red wines of remarkable purity, where elegance and finesse are perfectly balanced with outstanding aging potential.

WINEGROWERS OF HILLSIDE AND GRANITE TERROIRS

If Syrah finds one of its purest and most majestic expressions in the Northern Rhône Valley, it is because granite plays an essential role there. Across the 12 hectares cultivated by the House, from the steep slopes of Saint-Joseph to the hills of Hermitage, the vines thrive each year on these complex yet incomparably rich granite soils.

This bedrock, both physically well-draining and chemically marked by its natural acidity, has a true affinity with Syrah. By limiting vine vigor and encouraging low yields, it concentrates the expression of the fruit and intensifies the aromatic profile. This austere rock leaves its distinctive imprint on the wines, bringing tension, precision, and the hallmark minerality for which Hermitage is renowned.

On these steep hillsides, the demanding gradient requires constant effort, and on the terraces painstakingly carved into the stone by generations of winegrowers, the soil is still worked by hand, patiently and with great dedication. Every gesture is precise and faithful to a centuries-old tradition, guided by deep respect and devotion to the land.

CULTIVATING OUR UNIQUENESS

In the iconic terroirs of the Rhône Valley, our vineyards are culivated with meticulous care and precision. Each plot is managed individually, taking into account the age, exposure and specific needs of its vines. Ripening is carefully monitored, plot by plot, to allow each vine to produce the finest fruit of its terroir. Harvesting is carried out slowly and patiently, terrace by terrace, guided by the firm belief that there is no excellence without patient work.

WINEMAKING BASED ON PRECISION AND OBSERVATION

Our new winery is a showcase of cutting-edge technology designed to enable a winemaking approach closely attuned to the terroir. The facilities are entirely dedicated to obtaining the purest expression of each vineyard plot. In this constant quest for balance and expression, we prefer to use gentle vinification methods: slow fermentation, precise temperature control, minimal racking and an ageing process tailored to each wine.
